Winger Frank Acheampong is calling on Ghanaians to forget about the team’s failure to win the title two years ago and rally behind them as they embark on a tough hurdle this month.
The Black Stars in their quest to win the Africa Cup of Nations title must overcome competitions from Uganda, Mali and Egypt in Group D.
Acheampong, a member of Ghana’s 2015 Cup of Nations squad says Ghanaians should throw their support behind the team in order to win the trophy this time.
“We know they have been supporting us, they only thing they want from us is to make them happy,” he spoke to TV3.
“Maybe on one or two occasions we couldn’t achieve what they want, they can be angry. But am just pleading with them to put all this aside and this is a new year, a new tournament, they just have to support us with everything. That is the only way we can progress.”
Coach Avram Grant and his team are currently camping in the UAE capital (Dubai) and are scheduled to play their first friendly match this afternoon.
