Elmina Sharks to beef up team with foreign-based players

Published in Local Football News

President of Ghana Premier League newbies Elmina sharks, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has articulated his contentment as his side prepare to take Ghana’s elite football by storm.

Speaking on the first show, a current affairs program on First News Network, Dr. Nduom , who doubles as the Groupe President of Groupe Nduom,  a conglomerate of companies orates the excitement the League action will bring to the people of Elmina since it’s the first time all the big Clubs will be seen in his native Elmina.

‘’This is the first time our team, the fearsome Elmina Sharks FC starts off in premier league action.  For the very first time Asante Kotoko, Olympics, Hearts of Oak  and Wa All Stars will go to Elmina so, it will be new to them’’.

Over the years, infrastructure development has become a major headache to most of the big clubs in the country with the exception of Ashanti Gold SC who have its own Sports Stadium.

As fledgling as Elmina Sharks fc is, the Groupe President   must be applauded for putting up an edifice for the debutants heading into the league.

He made some remarks about the Nduom Sports Stadium saying, “when they get to Elmina, they will see that we have prepared ourselves and we keep preparing. We have a Stadium that they haven’t seen yet. There are other stadia in Ghana, nice ones but they will see that ours is different and its purposely built and they will see the enthusiasm that is there’’.

He was of the believe that, Elmina Sharks FC’s participation in the League wouldn’t be a nine day wonder, hinting  on the  possibility of having foreign-based players inclusion in the team.

‘’We’re working hard for our team not to just go to premier and come back to first division. We just want our team to remain in premier for this year then we would strengthen the team.

We’ re looking for one or two players from Nicaragua, Spain or Brazil. We will see some foreign players here in Ghana and in Elmina sharks fc precisely’’.

Elmina Sharks fc made their way to top-flight football last season from  the GN Bank Division One League with an enviable record of not losing any match at the Nduom Sports Stadium.
