Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has named a strong 24-man squad to face Congo Brazzaville in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Ghana Sports Online can reveal.
Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu makes a return to the squad along with Crystal Palace attacker Jeffrey Schlupp who has been away from the squad.
Tottenham Hotspur target Alfred Duncan who plays for Serie A side Alfred Duncan has also been handed a call up. The 24-year-old’s stellar performances in the Italian top-flight has earned him a return.
Ghana Sports Online confirmed France-based goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi is also included in the squad and it has been confirmed.
But Bursaspor midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu who has made a flying start to life in the Turkish top-flight still couldn’t make the grade under Appiah.
Workaholic Wakaso Mubarak could also not make the grade despite consistent and regular football in the Spanish top-flight from last season into the current one.
Miami FC’s Kwadwo Poku, Joseph Attamah and Isaac Sackey would all travel to Kumasi for the crucial tie which Ghana must win at all cost to stay on contention for a ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
WAFA’s offensive midfielder Gideon Waja and goalkeeper Joseph Addo are the only home-based players included in the squad.
Stuttgart man Ebenezer Ofori as well as Thomas Agyepong have held down their places in the squad after impressing against Ethiopia.

Ghana will play Congo twice within a space of five days as they will travel to Brazzaville for the reverse fixture on September 5.
