Turkey-based midfielder Isaac Sackey is likely to withdraw from the Ghana squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Congo Brazzaville after suffering injury on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old Berekum-born was forced off the field of play with injury just after minutes of Alanyaspor’s 1-1 draw with Karabükspor in the Turkish top-flight league.
Alanyaspor medical staff will conduct quick checks on the former Liberty Professionals midfielder to conclude on the extent of injury and find out whether he can still travel to Kumasi for the crucial qualifier.
Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah named the former Slovan Liberec strongman in his midfield for the 24-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Congo’s Red Devils.
The latest development means Kwesi Appiah must quickly call up a replacement for the midfielder in his squad who will commence training in Accra on Monday.
