Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea, Oduro Sarfo has stated categorically that his outfit is not a hub for rewarding academicians but rather a football club that recruits and train players who have football talents and exploits.
The shrewd football administrator made this public pronouncement in responds to the bizarre media mockery on his striker, Stephen Sarfo who exhibited some level of grammatical ineptness in an interview with Mamadou Gueye of Fox sports at the just ended WAFU tournament in Ghana.
The prodigy striker was expected to show some level of grammatical supremacy during the interview with the ex- Senegalese footballer after scoring 4 goals to win the WAFU top scorer accolade but the local black Stars lethal striker was out of his depth to match the language of the interviewer. This misfit, has taken a toll on him by some section of Ghanaian football enthusiasts who have exposed the sensational striker to public ridicule.

Speaking to Asante Forkuo of Cape Coast-based radio station ATL FM, the astute football administrator affirmed that his club recruits players based on football competence and not academic certification.
“Berekum Chelsea buy players who have football aptness and are ready to lead the team to chalk laurels but not necessarily players who have seen light in the academic arena,” he noted.
“I am shocked about the way some Ghanaian journalists are making mockery of Stephen Sarfo because of his lack of command over the English language.
“His work is to play good football to the highest level but not to display grammatical competence so those subjecting him to public ridicule must stop to move Ghana sports forward.”
Stephen Sarfo is expected to leave Berekum Chelsea for Europe at the end of the Ghana Premier League with several Clubs reported to be interested in the 23-year-old.
