Former Ghana U23 attacker Maxwell Boadi Acosty climbed off the bench to score one of the consolation goals for Croatian side Rijeka as they suffered a painful last-minute defeat to AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
The 26-year-old was introduced in the 58th minute at the San Siro and he netted in the 84th minute inspiring what could have been a strong come-back as the Croatians drew level but Milan snatched a late win.
Ghanian forward Acosty, who recently signed for the Croatian champions from Crotone, entered as a substitute in the second half and scored to make it 2-1, then Elez scored from the penalty spot. All of that drama in just six minutes.
The former Fiorentina man pounced on Bonucci’s underhit back pass and raced through on the Milan goal, bundling the ball beyond Donnarumma and in.
The European goal is the first for Acosty since he joined the Croatian champions.
