Egypt-based striker John Antwi finally made his debut for Ghana’s Black Stars on Tuesday after climbing off the bench to play in their massive 3-0 win over Saudi Arabia.
The 25-year-old Al Ahly striker was introduced as a 46th minute replacement for FC Zurich striker Raphael Dwamena and he nearly doubled the lead for Ghana but defender Hassan Haswani scored an own-goal in the 69th minute.
Antwi, on loan at Makkasa SC from Ahly, had been knocking at the door of the Black Stars since bursting onto the scenes in Egypt but has had limited chances.
However head coach James Kwesi Appiah who is building a new Ghana side handed him his debut game in the Ghana colours as Ghana claimed a 3-0 win.
Switzerland-based defender Kasim Adams Nuhu connected home a corner kick in the first-half to put Ghana ahead before Haswani scored an own goal to double the lead for Ghana.
Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey made it 3-0 on the nick of full time for the team.
