Mali awaits the winner between Ghana and Niger in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U17 World Cup.
The African Champions thumped Iraq 5-1 in the round of 16 match on Tuesday.
Lassana Ndiaye’s brace and a goal each from Hadji Drame, Fode Konate and Seme Camara was all the Africans needed to progress in the competition.
Mali will now take on the winner between Ghana and Niger in the next round of the competition.
Ghana will play their African counterparts (Niger) in the round of 16 game on Wednesday.
A win for the Black Starlets will see a repeat of the Africa U17 Championship finals where Mali beat Ghana 1-0 to win the title.
Mali have been ruthless so far at this year’s FIFA U17 World Cup with most pundits already tipping them as one of the favorites to win the trophy having lost to Nigeria in the finals two years ago.
