Ghanaian George Boateng has courted big controversy after claiming Danny Welbeck could easily walk into the all-conquering Manchester City XI.
Boateng, a former Dutch international, was commenting on Manchester City’s latest rout against the Gunners and singled out a few players he believes can make the grades for the Etihad giants.
He singled out Pierre-Emeric Augbamayung, Mezut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and, then the England striker who hails from Ghana.
Welbeck has not been in the best of forms in the Premier League and has scored just 3 goals this season.
But the former Middlesbrough and star believes the former Manchester United star can still make it to Pep Guardiola’s XI.
“Of the Arsenal starting XI probably only four players would get in the Manchester City team,” Boateng said on Sky Sports.
‘I would pick [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, I would. [Mesut] Ozil is good enough when he’s at his pomp he’s a good player. ‘You’ve got [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan who’s just signed. I think he’s a good player and would do very well in the top four.
‘And then you have, if he’s fit, you’ll probably have Welbeck. He’s a very good player.’
Manchester City are run-away league leaders with their striker Sergio Aguero scoring over 20 league goals this season.
