Ghanaian second-tier side Okyeman Planners have officially petitioned FIFA to reinstate George Afriyie to his position as Vice President of the Ghana Football Association.
Planners have told FIFA in their official petition that Mr Afriyie’s removal was in contravention of the statues of the Ghana FA.
Afriyie, one of Ghana’s leading football administrators, was removed as Vice President of the Ghana FA in April by former President Kwesi Nyantakyi with recourse to due process.
The letter details how some members of the Executive Committee of the Ghana FA, mustered Afriyie’s removal from office.
After he was removed from office, former President Nyantakyi failed to appoint a successor in his place leading to an executive lacuna following the resignation of Nyantakyi.
Ghana Sports Online sources have confirmed FIFA have officially written to the Ghana FA General Secretary seeking to hear the side of the GFA on the matter.
The General Secretary is yet to respond.
Afriyie has not been formally written about his removal from office as the GFA only used it’s Twitter handle to confirm the news.
Nyantakyi removed AFRIYIE from office after he declared his intentions to contest for the Ghana FA Presidency in 2019.
Below is the letter sent to FIFA by Okyeman Planners.
