Ghana sprint Queens Janet Amponsah and Hor Halutie have all made it through to the semifinals of the Women’s 100m at the ongoing Africa senior Athletics Championship in Asaba (Nigeria).
The pair qualified from their respective heats to compete for a place in the finals.
Amponsah finished second with a time of 11.63sec behind undisputed Ivorian sprinter Marie Josee Ta Lou who made a time of 11.25sec.
Halutie, Ghana’s latest prospect also placed third in her heat with a time of 11.77sec to grab a place in the semis.
Emmanuel Frimpong also made a huge impression in the men’s event when he progress to the next round with a time of 10.50sec.
“This was not my best race. The false start was playing in my mind. Everybody was too careful not get off too early. But hopefully in the semi finals I will make amends,” Yeboah told Citi Sports.
The three athletes will be competing for a place in the finals on Thursday morning.
