Former Black Stars player, Sam Johnson has debunk claims that the current senior national team squad lacks quality evident in the team’s loss to Kenya and rather said the team lacks a leader on the field of play hence the recent poor performance.
The former Hearts of Oak midfielder revealed that aside the work done by the coaches during training, there has to be a leader on the field when the team comes out to play and that is what the Black Stars lack now.
“We have very good players in the national team only that there is no leader amongst them. Every team needs a leader on the field of play to drive the team on when things are not going well like it happened in Kenya”, he spoke to Asempa FM.
He also cited Captain Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew and former skipper Stephen Appiah as individuals who provide leadership and positive energy on the field of play and entreated Coach Akwasi Appiah to identify another in their absence.
