Former Ghana international Michael Essien has singled Senegalese star Sadio Mane as the best African player currently.
Mane undoubtedly has been one of the most consistent African player in Europe for the past three seasons.
The Liverpool man finished behind teammate Mohamed Salah in last year’s Africa Footballer of the year award.
However the 26-year-old remains Essien’s favorite African player currently.
“I think Mane, he was fantastic last season and yes he is doing well so far this year as well so am going for him,” he said in an interview with CheekySport.
Sadio Mane is likely to stay in contention for the 2018 Africa Footballer of the year award together with Mohamed Salah and Pierre Emerick Aubameyung who has rediscovered his form at Arsenal.
