Kwesi Appiah says he will invite Kevin-Prince Boateng back to the Black Stars team should the latter apologize for an alleged misconduct during the team’s campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Boateng has been suspended from the National team indefinitely after an alleged confrontation with Coach Kwesi Appiah at the 2014 World Cup which has since halted his invitation to the National team.
The Sassuolo midfielder together with pal Sulley Muntari were said to have showed disruptive behavior at the team’s camp in Brazil. The said action however got them axed from the Black Stars camp before the team’s final group match against Portugal.
A recommendation by the Justice Dzamefe led commission tasked to investigate the happenings at the 2014 World Cup asked for the two players to be exempted from the National team until they apologize.
Muntari after the pronouncement by the commission publicly apologize for his action.
Calls have been raised for Kwesi Appiah to let sleeping dogs lie and invite inform Kevin-Prince Boateng who has been exceptional at Club level for the past three seasons.
Kwesi Appiah on the other hand has cast the dice insisting the player will only be invited should he show remorse and officially apologize.
“Kelvin Prince Boateng is a Ghanaian and playing well, if you look at our striking department,” he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM
“We cannot always count on Asamoah Gyan, but after 2014 Commission of Inquiry he and Sulley Muntari were asked to apologize and Sulley has done his. I will invite Kelvin-Prince Boateng if he writes his, I will invite him,” he added.
Kevin-Prince Boateng, 31, has not received an invitation to the Black Stars team since 2014.
