Ex-Ghana U17 defender Najeeb Yakubu missed out on a dream clash with English giants Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League due to injury.
The 18-year-old, who played for Ghana at the 2017 U17 FIFA World Cup in India, watched from the stands at the Stadion Vorskla im. Oleksiya Butov’skogo as Arsenal posted a heavy 3-0 win over his Vorskla side.
Najeeb could have faced Ghanaian Edward Nketiah and Aaron Ramsey who led the Gunners attack for the evening’s game.
He has been out injured since early November and has missed two league games for his club including defeats against Shakhtar Donetsk and Mariupol.
The workaholic youngster has already featured for Vorskla in the competition when they lost 1-0 to Qarabag.
According to credible online portal Transfermarkt.com he was transferred to the Ukrainian club by Nigerian side Niger Tornadoes.
