Ghanaian midfielder Joseph Paintsil scored his debut goal in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night as he scored to help Genk manage a 2-2 draw at Swedish side Malmo FF.
The 20-year-old put the Belgian Jupiler League side 2-0 ahead with a 53rd minute strike at the Swedbank Stadion.
Painstil, a former Ferencváros midfielder, eluded his marker to race into the box and collected a pass from Spanish midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo before calmly slotting the ball past the hosts keeper.
The goal is Paintsil’s first in 7 appearances in the competition this season.
He was substituted in the 54th minute of the game while his Ghanaian compatriot Joseph Aidoo played the full 90 minutes for Genk.
The draw has helped Genk to maintain top spot in Group I of the competition.
