Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Cofie came off the bench to help Sporting Gijon to eliminate La Liga side Eibar from the Spanish Cope del Rey competition on Thursday night.
The former Genoa man, 27, was introduced in the 59th minute and he helped to anchor the midfield as they drew 2-2 at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua.
Gijon won the first leg 2-0 and needed to avoid defeat by the same margin to remain in the competition.
The Segunda Division side have now progressed on a 4-2 aggregate win and join the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Levante, Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid and others.
Cofie has enjoyed decent playing minutes since the start of the season and scored once in 12 league games.
