Ghanaian teenage midfielder David Boateng scored the opening goal for Crystal Palace U18 as they claimed a 2-1 win over Cogenhoe United in the English FA Youth Cup on Thursday.
Boateng, 17, opened the scoring for Palace in the 50th minute, which was cancelled out almost immediately by the hosts’ Jack Mullally.
But his Ghanaian compatriot TQ Addy scored a late-winner which was a fitting end to a great contest.
The performance of the Ghanaian duo has ensured that Palace will host Bolton Wanderers in the fourth round.
Boateng has been developing at Palace’s youth system and has been tipped to hit the top of his game in the coming seasons.
He could play for Ghana if he is approached by the Ghana FA as England is understood to be on his wheel.
