Thomas Partey could not make the top 10 shortlist for the Africa player of the year.
The Atletico Madrid star missed out in the second phase of the shortlist leaving Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane of Senegal, Gabon captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyung, Alex Iwobi (Nigeria) and Andre Onana (Cameroon).
The rest includes; Anice Badri (Tunisia), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria), Denis Oyango (Uganda), Medhi Benatia (Morocco) and Walid Soliman (Egypt).
Partey’s exemption means Ghana would have to wait for another year to have a player possibly winning the prestigious award.
The Aiteo CAF awards Gala will be hosted in Senegal in January.
