Chelsea’s Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a beauty for the Blues as they triumphed 3-0 over Swedish giants Malmo FF in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
The 18-year-old registered his second goal of the competition with a neat strike from a diagonal angle on the 84th minute to seal a 5-1 aggregate win for the Maurizio Sarri’s side.
Hudson-Odoi completed six take-ons in the opening 30 minutes against Malmo, as many as all other 21 players on the pitch combined before crowning his night with the strike.
Brazilian Willian skated a long-searching ball from the opposite wing to find Odoi and he swung the approaching Malmo defender before sending a low drive to the far post.
He has made six (6) appearances in the competition this season and his first goal came against Greek Super League side PAOK Saloniki when Chelsea battered them 4-0.
Chelsea fans have called for manager Sarri to apportion more playing time to the youngster who has demonstrated his readiness to play on the big stage.
He is the son of former Hearts of Oak attack Bismark Odoi who scored for the Phobians in their popular 2-1 win against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Kumasi with 9 men in 1978.
Odoi has represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels and was an influential figure during England’s 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup campaign in India, netting once in seven appearances and featuring for the entire 90 minutes during their 5–2 final victory over Spain.
Hudson-Odoi is the younger brother of non-League striker Bradley Hudson-Odoi who played for Ghana at U20 level.
