Ghana Premier League Clubs refusal to confirm their participation in the Special competition forced the Normalization Committee to cancel the tournament.
All Premier League Clubs including the 48 division one teams were to confirm their participation by the close of Monday.
Kotoko and Dreams FC however emerged as the only Premier League Clubs to show their interest by confirming their participation.
As a result, the committee had to hold an emergency meeting and eventually cancel a competition which was aimed at keeping the Clubs active.
“All Clubs were to confirm their participation by the close of Monday, however it is unfortunate among the 16 Premier League Clubs only Kotoko and Dreams FC had expressed their desire to play,” Spokesperson of the Normalizations committee Dan Kweku Yeboah told Asempa FM.
“You would agree with me that we cannot proceed when the Clubs have not given their concerns to play and so we had no option than to cancel it.
“However all the 48 division one Clubs had shown interest and so the committee is trying to put in place a competition for them together with the National Women’s League teams who also showed great interest.”
The normalization Committee was set-up by FIFA to normalize football activities in the country until March 31.
