Kevin-Prince Boateng made his La Liga debut on Saturday as Barcelona defeated Rayo Valladolid 1-0.
The Ghanaian was handed a starting place ahead of regular Luis Suarez.
Boateng enjoyed 60minutes before making way for the latter who could neither make a significant impact.
The Sassoulo loanee who had only featured once since his shocking move to the Catalans was not so convincing despite coming close to find the back on a couple of occasions.
Barcelona Coach Ernesto Valverde was forced to bring on his preferred choice Luis Suarez who could also not find the back of the net as the leaders relied on Lionel Messi’s solitary goal from the penalty spot to snatch maximum points at home.
