Owner of Sunyani-based Division One League side Young Apostles Yaw Domfe is the latest to throw his weight behind Ghana Football Association Presidential hopeful George Afriyie.
The outspoken administrator has expressed his full backing for the former GFA VEEP insisting he is the right person to head football in the West African country.
Afriyie, who has recently reaffirmed his decision to run for the Ghana FA top job when the FIFA Normalisation Committee opens nominations, has completed a third leg of campaign tour of the Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions since he announced his intentions last March.
During his tour of the largest constituency in the Ghanaian football electoral college he engaged all relevant stakeholders within the football fraternity, crucially holding several hours of meetings with club owners and others who directly and indirectly invest in football.
And, Domfe, who was on the high tables along with other club owners during a meet-the-press encounter in the Brong Ahafo region, has underscored the leadership qualities of the Okyeman Planners bankroller.
“I’ve known and related to him (George Afriyie) for so many years. Over the years he has given so much precious advise and support regarding football which has worked marvelously. We’re all throwing our support behind George to become the next GFA President because he is the best,” he told journalists in the Brong Ahafo region.
“I’m the one casting the vote on the day of elections and he already has my vote,” he added.
Most club owners across the length and breadth of the country are expressing their backing for the CAF AFCON Committee member in the Presidential race.
Afriyie has revealed he will scrap officiating fee for juvenile clubs when elected into office as he believes the practice crippling grassroots football development in the country.
The Brong Ahafo region is the biggest constituency in the Ghana FA electoral college with 21 electorates drawn from the Ghana Premier League, Division One and the Regional Football Association.
Per the current elections structure of the football association the Brong Ahafo region has eight (8) Premier League votes, ten (10) Division One League votes and three (3) votes from the Regional Football Association.
Last week owner of Berekum Chelsea Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah joined the eminent football investors who have expressed their backing for Afriyie.
