Ghana U23 Coach Ibrahim Tanko admits his side is under pressure to make it to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Black Meteors have failed to qualify for the multiple sports competition since 2004.
Ghana after 14 years are keen to make it this time around but will need to fend off a huge task of making it to the Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
Tanko concedes pressure on his team to make it this time around.
“Well I think the pressure is here in Ghana. Not even the under-23, we are talking about the Black Stars and it’s been a while since we won something in terms of trophy for the nation,” he told CAFonline.com
“Ghana is a football nation we always want to be in any competition so once we don’t make it, the fans will not be happy. So yes, definitely there is pressure, but I think we can manage it.”
Ghana takes on Gabon in the first leg of the second round of qualifiers on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
