Asante Kotoko defensive midfielder Richard Senanu is set for a long spell on the treatment board due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
KickGH has confirmed the young defensive midfielder would be flown out of the country to undergo surgery to correct the problem.
The 24-year-old damaged his ligament during Kotoko’s 2-1 win over Zambian side ZESCO United during the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Senanu will fly out to Dubai to be put under the knife at the cost of $16,000 according to Oyerepa FM, which is based in Kumasi.
“He received a knock during training and ended up twisting it. Our checks have revealed that he has suffered a ligament [tear] at the front and outer side of his knee,” he told Oyerepa FM.
Ligament rupture or tear mostly take a longer time to heal after surgery and is infamously known for ending career of many young players including former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong.
