Fast-growing Tema City FC have lifted the 2019 Palace Trophy after thrashing highly-rated Future Heroes FC 3-0 at the Complex Sports Arena in Tema on Saturday.
The flamboyant third-tier side dominated proceedings in the opening half but were reduced to 10 men when offensive midfielder Musah Ibrahim was marched off in the 27th minute for a reckless challenge.
Kwame Obeng’s boys bossed the midfield despite the absence of the genius midfield merchant Benjamin Mireku who missed out due to a minor knock.
After the break, City clicked into gear as Ghameli Charwey sparked the goal riot with a cracking finish in the 56th minute.
Striker Bismarck Owusu doubled the advantage for City when he capitalised on a loosing ball and waltzed his way through before planting a firm effort to the bottom right corner.
Richmond Aduku wrapped up the win with the third goal four minutes from time.
Salim Baafada, City’s captain, was adjudged the best player of the competition as he won the MVP Award.
The Palace Cup is an annual competition organised by the African Rising Star Academy and Palace Group of Companies featuring clubs in various divisions across the country.
