Black Meteors forward Kwabena Owusu insists the team can break the 16-year jinx by making it to the Olympic Games in 2020.
Ghana must eliminate Algeria in the final hurdle to qualify for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt before fighting their way to Tokyo in 2020.
Owusu, current joint top scorer in the qualifiers with four goals is optimistic about the team’s chances of making it to the Olympics for the first time since 2004.
“We will qualify for the Olympics, I am very confident, you can see how we are playing and we have a very good team,” he said on Atinka FM.
“It’s been a while we made it to the Olympic Games so we are determined to make it this time around.”
The Black Meteors ejected Gabon to reach the final round of qualifier after eliminating Togo in the first round.
Ghana host Algeria in the first leg of the final round of qualifiers on June 5 before taking on their counterparts in the reverse fixture on June 9.
