Ghana finished 7th in the finals of the Women’s 4X100 at the IAAF World relay Championship in Yokohama, Japan.
The team, having placed second in Heat 2 with a time of 44.12 to qualify for the finals could not match their counterparts from the United States, Germany, Brazil, Jamaica, Australia, Italy and Denmark.
Quartet Flings Owusu Agyapong, Persis William-Mensah, Gemma Acheampong and Hor Halutie showed great efforts after a perfect start but slipped on their way to allow the competitors overcome them.
Ghana was the only African country to have made it to the finals after Nigeria were disqualified in the semis for baton change problems.
Ghana’s Women’s relay team is ranked among the best in Africa after finishing third at the Africa Athletics Championship in Asaba last year.
