Ghanaian youngster Malachi Boateng has won Crystal Palace’s U18 player of the season.
The young centre-back was nominated by manager Paddy McCarthy and Academy Director Gary Issott for standing out among his teammates.
Boateng played 16 games for the U18’s, made 14 blocks, 39 clearances and 70 interceptions.
The defender however expressed delight after receiving the award.
“This means a lot to me, thank you very much. I’d like to thank my family, my coaches and my teammates as well for helping me this season.”
The player however earned praises from Crystal Palace U23 Coach Richard Shaw.
“He comes in, does the sessions morning and afternoon, he doesn’t moan and he’s an absolute joy to work with.
“And in terms of creating an environment within the Under-23s group, he’s been as big a part of that as anybody.”
The talented defender could be drafted into the Crystal Palace first team next season.
