Techiman XI Wonders attacker Alex Asamoah has criticised referee Bismark Appiah for awarding a ‘contentious’ penalty to Asante Kotoko in their 1-0 win.
Defender Abdul Ganiyu stepped up to score in the 73rd minute with a superb penalty after the visitors defender had fouled winger Emmanuel Gyamfi in the penalty area.
But, Asamoah, who came off the bench to play in the second half insists the center man officiated the game with a predetermined mind.
“It wasn’t a correct penalty. It was a very contentious call and I confronted the referee over the decision. When I challenged and some other decisions he booked me,” he told Ghana Sports Online.
The Porcupine Warriors prior to the game, had gone three games without a win having dropped points against Berekum Chelsea, Bechem United and Ashanti Gold SC.
He says his side must focus on their next task against Aduana Stars at the Children’s Park in Techiman.
“We have to win our last two games. We face Aduana in our next game and we must be determined to beat them,” he added.
