Ghana FA Normalisation Committee President Dr Kofi Amoah and his members Naa Odofoley and Samuel Osei Kuffour are expected to meet up with FIFA over portions of the Ghana FA statutes that is under review.
Kofi Amoah and his two other members were invited to Paris – France, by FIFA for the world football governing body’s congress where Infantino has been re-elected FIFA President until 2023.
While the Swiss-Italian was basking in his re-election victory the Ghanaian trio might take the opportunity to engage the FIFA hierarchy on some portions of the Ghana Football Association statutes under review.
In August 2018 FIFA announced a Normalisation Committee in the West African country. The NC replaced the Ghana FA Executive Committee following a stinking scandal that saw then FA President of the country Kwesi Nyantakyi removed from his positions at CAF and FIFA.
FIFA tasked the NC to:
– To run the GFA’s daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana;
– To review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes, and;
– Once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organise and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.
FIFA extended the mandate of the NC after it was unable to finalise its tasked at 31st March 2019.
NC President Dr Kofi Amoah has publicly stated that he is not interested in staying beyond his current extension mandate and would work around the clock to finish within the period given.
