Alfonso Fernandez de Troconiz, President of Deportivo Alaves has explained the reason behind Majeed Waris failed move to the Club.
The Ghanaian was expected to sign a loan deal with the Spanish side before the transfer deadline from Portuguese giants FC Porto.
Waris was almost close to joining the La Liga side but for a “challenge on the signing process” preventing him from completing a deal before time.
“We are happy with the squad that we have put together,” Fernandez de Troconiz told Marca.
“The Waris deal was not a problem of salary but there was a challenge with the signing process and a deal could not materialise.
“There was a salary space available for us to make the deal happen.
“There have been players who pass medical examinations but then do not become Alaves players because there [are] problems in the process of signing.
“With Majeed Waris, what happened was that he was in Vitoria but he never signed a contract with us.”
The 27-year-old’s chances at Porto remains limited after returning on loan from French Ligue I side Nantes.
He now has no option than to fight for a place in the Porto first team and wait for another transfer opportunity in January.
