Renowned media practitioner, football administrator and politician Kwabena Kyere Stuggard has pronounced victory for George Afriyie in the upcoming Ghana FA Presidential elections.
The 51-year-old CAF AFCON Organising Capo and ex-Ghana FA Vice President has filed his nomination forms with 12 out of the 16 Ghana Premier League clubs including Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea endorsing his candidature.
Twenty out of the forty-eight Division One League clubs have also thrown their backing to George Afriyie by endorsing his forms.
The Ghana Football Association has 120 delegates and are expected to go to the polls in late October. And, ace broadcaster Kwabena Kyere Stuggard is confident Afriyie has already won the elections.
“Team GA is focused and have worked assiduously to ensure there is victory. George is loved by the football people and the support is massive. Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions boost of the biggest constituency in Ghana,” he told Cofie Asomah Regan on Saturday.
Afriyie, an ex-Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, has also received massive backing from prominent members of Ghanaian society including the powerful Dormaahene Oseadeyor Osagyefo Agyemang Badu and Ghana’s Chief Imam.
Super Sport Television Founder and top adviser for Fox Sports Africa Barry Lambert has told Ghana FA delegates Afriyie is the most qualified candidate to become President of the GFA.
Afriyie is also praised by renowned Ghanaian football administrators and historians for his contribution to developing Ghana football. In 1993, during the FIFA U-17 World Cup, he dedicated and devoted his time and service to the Ghana team which won silver at the tournament in the Asian country.
He has also served on a lot of committees at CAF and GFA levels and comes with a lot of experience under his belt.
