Leading Ghana FA Presidential candidate George Afriyie has told Sunyani-based Ark FM that the Brong Ahafo region will get the first of his nationwide Astro Turf projects.
Afriyie, a CAF AFCON Organising Committee member, has emboldened his commitment to the Brong Ahafo region by describing the region as the Florida of Ghana football.
He launched his Presidential manifesto in Sunyani – which is the capital of the Bono region on Saturday to highlight his commitment to Ghana football.
The former Ghana FA Juvenile Committee Chairman also chose the region to demonstrate his One Player One Ball policy.
“The first of my nationwide Astro Turf projects will come to the Brong Ahafo region. Because this region has everything in football. This is the only region that has produced four different clubs to play in Africa and currently has the women’s Premier League champions and the Women’s FA Cup champions as well as the highest number of Division One and Premier League clubs. So it is only right that we give the region what it deserves,” he told Sunyani-based Ark FM.
Renowned football investor McDan has pledged his commitment to construct 10 astroturf pitches across the country when George Afriyie is elected the President of the GFA.
