Ghana Football Association Executive Council elections candidate Kingsley Osei Bonsu is of the firm belief that juvenile football must take center stage in the new ‘republic’ of football in the West African nation.
Osei Bonsu, popularly known in football circles as Lord Zico, is running on the ticket of Bechem United to be elected for one of the five slots available to Premier League clubs on the second highest decision-making body of the football regulatory body in the country.
The Bechem United top administrator has served on the leadership council previously and wants to be given the opportunity to serve again.
Juvenile football which is popularly referred to as colts football in Ghana has dominated the discussions among the football populace in the country as various aspirants and candidates seek take leadership positions at the Ghana FA.
Osei Bonsu has assured delegates that juvenile football will be one of the key focuses he takes to the Executive Council.
“Colts or juvenile football happens to be one of the foundations of every football nation in the world. When you go to other places, they invest a lot of resources into the development of football at the grassroots. And, if you quite remember during the days we were making impact in youth football at the world level juvenile football was strong,” he told Ghana Sports Online in an exclusive interview.
“Already there are a number of key things we need to focus on as a footballing nation and juvenile football is one of my priorities on the scale of preference. I will drive the entire ExCo towards that direction,” he added.
The Ghana FA elections kick start today with Regional Football Association elections taking place today.
