Black Stars assistant Coach CK Akonnor says has chances of landing a role with the Ghana National team prevented him from securing the Coaching job at Guinea.
The former Kotoko trainer was shortlisted for the Guinea National team job having shown interest just after his exit from the Porcupine Warriors.
Akonnor was due to undergo an interview session in Guinea having made the final shortlist but declined in order to serve as the assistant Coach for the Black Stars having been contact by head Coach Kwesi Appiah.
“Yes I got shortlisted and I was to go for an interview but just about that I had a call that my services will be needed so I had to stop,” he said on the inquest show on GTV.
“My boss Kwesi Appiah called me that he needs my services and asked if I was interested and of course I thought it wise to rather serve my county so I just had to let go of my interview with Guinea.
The former Ghana captain replaces Ibrahim Tanko who has been assigned to supervise the Ghana U23 side at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
He will be on the Black Stars technical bench for the first time when Ghana takes on South Africa in Cape Coast on November 14.
