The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has honoured renowned sports broadcaster and media expert Dan Kwaku Yeboah with a Special Award for his meritorious service to sports journalism in the West African country.
The Despite Group Head of Sports, who has received countless awards for his outstanding media contribution and the promotion of developmental journalism, received the award at the 24th GJA Awards Dinner which took place on Saturday.
His citation read: In 2018: Afranie’s book project, Afranie Foundation and the only Ghanaian journalist to run live commentary on Isaac Dogbe’s maiden World title fight in Philadelphia.
Kwaku Yeboah, whose unparalleled expertise on the Ghanaian media landscape won him a sports journalism award at the 2019 RTP Awards, has embarked on a number of developmental journalism projects engendered progress and opened national discussions.
The multiple-award winning national commentator of the year played a vital role in the reformation and normalisation of Ghana football under the FIFA-appointed Liaison Team and the Normalisation Committee.
His legacies at the Ghana FA include documenting a Communications Policy, a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy and setting up an autonomous web portal to market and brand league football in the country.
Ghana President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo recognised his contribution in sports development as he recognised him in his maiden official address after his election as the President of the Republic of Ghana in 2016.
