Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah has sent a goodwill message to Ghanaian boxer Richard Commey ahead of night’s bout against American Teofimo Lopez.
Commey steps into the ring to defend his IBF Lightweight title at the Madison square Gardens in the USA.
The 32-year-old will be hoping to lift high the flag of Ghana after countryman Isaac Dogboe’s disappointing show earlier this year when he lost to Mexican Emmanuel Navarette for the second time.
“On behalf of Government and the good people of Ghana I wish Richard Commey the very best in his upcoming International Boxing Federation (IBF) title defense against homeboy Teofimo Lopez tomorrow at the Madison Square Garden, United States of America (USA).
“I am very confident that Commey with all his training and practice would stay focused to defend his IBF Lightweight title and also be encouraged by the unflinching support from government and the people of Ghana.
“I call on Ghanaians to support him with their prayers.
“I wish you well and may victory crown your efforts.”
Richard Commey have managed 29 wins from 31 fights with 26 coming by way of knockouts.
