Ghana U23 winger Evans Mensah has set his eyes on a call-up to the Black Stars team after excelling at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Ghana could not qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo but the young attacker made a mark for himself.
The Black Meteors, having missed out in the finals after losing to Cote d’ Ivoire failed to grab the only available slot in the third place playoff losing to South Africa on penalties.
Mensah, Ghana’s priceless gem at the competition is aiming to break into the senior National team.
“The competition is played every four years and am 22 now, obviously I wouldn’t be eligible to play in the next edition, “the HJK Helsinki player told TV3.
“Right now I am focusing on the Black Stars, I hope to get a chance with the senior team. Is not going to come easy but I need to work harder and make sure I take up the chance when it comes.”
The former Inter Allies star scored twice in the competition finding the back of the net in games against Cote d’ Ivoire and South Africa.
His performance in Egypt earned him a place in the best XI at the end of the competition.
