Ghanaian second-tier side Okyeman Planners perpetuated their impressive pre-season run with a 1-1 drawn game with Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals at the newly constructed All Nations University Sports Complex in Koforidua on Sunday afternoon.
Planners slit open the Liberty defence as early as the 3rd minute of the encounter. Offensive midfielder Richard Quartey raced the enterprising side into the lead when Seth Kumah initiated a move from midfield as he located Edmund Gyan with a visionary calibration. Gyan in turned laid a carpet pass to the promising Emmanuel McCarthy dubbed Marcelo – his weighted pass found Quartey who brilliantly took on two defenders before planting the ball firmly beyond the reach of the Liberty goalkeeper.
This REAL team goal distabilised the travelers from Dansoman as Kumah, Joshua Karbo and Philip Awuku marshaled the game with domineering ease.
Kumah and Adams Razak Junior all came close but had their efforts repelled by the Liberty keeper.
Both teams rang changes after the break though Liberty’s alterations didn’t affect the place of the experienced Ernest Papa Arko who had to change the complexion of the game for the Scientific Soccer Lads.
And, the equalizer came through him as he was fouled in the box to give a penalty to his side late in the second half of the game.
Both teams had a player each sent off and none could claim a win before the game petered out.
Planners take on Uncle T United in Prampram on Thursday.
