Norwegian trainer Kjetil Zachariassen is seeking to influence Bechem United’s hierarchy to appoint him as the new head coach of the club, Ghana Sports Online has learnt.
The former Asante Kotoko coach, 51, is clubless after being sacked by the Porcupine Warriors last month following the club’s failures in CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
Ghana Sports Online’s sources can confirm that the coach was in the Ahafo regional town to discuss a deal involving a player.
While in the town he sought the opportunity to lobby with the club’s hierarchy to appoint him to the role of the head coach.
Zachariassen could not guide the Reds to the Group stage of the Confederation Cup after losing to San Pedro 2-1 on aggregate, a situation which kept his security in doubt ultimately getting him to stay a bit longer in the Ivory Coast.
He was sacked by the ‘African Club of the Century’ for bad performance and what some sections of the media reported to be using of a fake coaching certificate to coach the club.
The former Portsmouth employee left Ghanaian side AshantiGold to join Kotoko but failed to lead them to the desired silverware.
