Renowned football administrator and Ghana Football Association Executive Council grandee Kingsley Osei Bonsu has praised the standard of play in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League and described it as the highest in recent seasons.
The Bechem United bigwig was at the Accra Sports Stadium to witness his Hunters side succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Legon Cities FC before watching the Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko from the VIP Lounge at the same venue last Sunday.
Kotoko prevailed 2-1 over Hearts of Oak in a game that has generated raving reviews from local and international press with majority of the 40,000 fans who watched the game from the Ghanaian capital insisting performance of the players exceeded expectations.
And, Osei Bonsu has given credit to the players and insisted the standard shown by Hearts and Kotoko cuts across the various league centers.
“When you look back at the Hearts vs Kotoko game and you feel proud about what you witnessed in terms of the standard of play from the two sides, you shouldn’t be surprised. Because, that is what you see at all the league centers. This time round there is seriousness from all the players in terms of the quality of play they sell out,” he told Ghanasportsonline.com.
The 2019/20 Ghana Premier League is receiving the highest media coverage in recent seasons with Chinese media giants StarTimes providing television coverage for more matches than ever.
The television coverage is however expected to reflect in the financial gains of the eighteen (18) clubs who are participating in the league.
