Medeama SC kept their unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League intact as they relied on a superb second-half strike from Nana Kofi Babil to seal a 1-1 drawn game with Liberty Professionals at the Karl Reindorf Park in Dansoman on Saturday.
Former Ghana U20 trialist Elvis Kyei Baffour fired the hosts into a 65th minute lead but celebrations were cut short when Babil, who is nicknamed Mbappe, climbed off the bench to pull parity for Samuel Boadu’s side.
The young forward had taken the place of Ebenezer Ackahbi midway through the second-half and he grabbed the headlines once again as he became the first player to score in three consecutive matches as a substitute in the Ghana Premier League.
Midfielder Kwasi Donsu, who recently rejoined the Tarkwa-based side following the expiration of his loan deal in the United States of America, was handed a starting role but was hauled off for Michael Yeboah.
For Liberty Professionals they have been without a win in their opening three games of the season BUT, no club has been able to defeat either at their Karl Reindorf base or on the road.
The draw means Medeama sit atop the league ladder with two wins and a draw accruing 7 point. Liberty how could drop further down the bottom half after Sunday’s matches which may so affect the fortunes of Medeama at the summit.
