Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed he studied Thomas Partey’s style of taking penalties as he pulled a great stop to deny the Ghanaian in the Supercopa de Espana final in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
The Belgian guardian explained that he was prepared for the penalty and that he knew where the Black Stars player would aim.
“I studied them on the bench,” he said when asked if he’d prepared ahead of the shootout.
“Saul surprised me a little, but I knew Thomas’ one clearly and I think I made a good save because he hit it hard.
“I’m very happy because it was another clean sheet and I made good saves. We had a good feeling coming into this tournament and now we return with an even better feeling,” he concluded on the penalty saves.
Madrid were crowned champions after beating their city rivals Atletico de Madrid from the spot with the win giving Zidane his 10th trophy as the Real Madrid manager.
