Asante Kotoko new acquisition Kwame Poku has sent a strong signal to Ghana Premier League defenders by scoring five times in the Porcupine Warriors 11-3 training match win over Jachie Youth Academy on Thursday afternoon.
The 21-year-old striker reportedly underwent medicals last week ahead of a proposed move and used Thursday’s game to demonstrate his striking qualities to head coach Maxwell Konadu and his technical team.
Poku had an unsuccessful trial spell with Serbian side Cukaricki during the winter break and he has opted to join Kotoko.
The player, who is originally on the books of Ghanaian second-tier side Nkoranza Warriors, claimed his reputation when he bagged 10 goals for the Division One League side during the 2019 NC Special Competition.
The sharpshooter was heavily linked with a move to regional rivals AshantiGold SC following his superb display in the Normalisation Committee Special Competition but the move fell through at the last minute.
Poku is expected to ink a three-year-contract with the Kumasi-based side early next week.
He is a former striker for the Ghana U20 side.
