Former Ghana International Anthony Yeboah has called for support for Black Stars Coach CK Akonnor.
Yeboah played together with Akonnor at the 1994 and 1996 Africa Cup of Nations where he established close relationship with Akonnor.
According to the ex-Leeds United star, his former playmate needs support to succeed in his new role.
“CK I always call him slim macho, he is slim but a very tough person. CK needs support, he can’t do it alone. The media, the fans, the players, President himself, everybody has to support him,” Yeboah told GTV Sports plus.
“Without that CK cannot do anything, because when he doesn’t have all the support, he should forget. Football is all about support and without support you cannot do anything.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed CK Akonnor as the new Black Stars Coach earlier this year replacing Kwesi Appiah who was not handed a contract extension.
Akonnor was expected to supervise his first game against Sudan in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but for CAF’s decision to postpone the game due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
