Black Queens Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quacoo wants the 2020 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournament to be postponed.
The novel coronavirus has forced almost every football event to be suspended until further notice.
CAF have already postponed the qualifiers for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, the FIFA U17 and U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers as well as every other football competition on the continent.
The 2020 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations which was expected to come off later this year remains in limbo hence Mercy Tagoe wants it postponed.
“Looking at the situation, there hasn’t been any qualifiers and of there is no qualifiers automatically we cannot play. I cannot say we should cancel it but it will be appropriate to take it to next year and play it around February or March, maybe by the situation might be a little better that would not cause any problem for the players,” he told Happy FM.
“If it is that case then I will like it to be pushed to next year so we can get enough time to prepare better for the qualifiers because already the ladies have been affected physiologically.”
Tagoe was the second in command at the Black Queens during the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournament hosted in Ghana.
