Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman Badu was in fine shape in midfield for Hellas Verona who survived with a 2-1 home win over Cagliari in the Italian Serie A on Saturday.
The 29-year-old midfield workhorse had to increase his work-rate in the midfield as Verona were reduced to 10 men following Fabio Borini’s dismissal on the 35th minute mark.
Badu, who is on loan at Verona from Udinese, controlled the midfield as he scored 6.63 in Whoscored.com’s player rating. He also scored high marks on his passing accuracy in the game after emerging with 86.1%.
Saturday’s game marks Badu’s first start of the season as he spent most part of the season with illness, recovering just around the time before the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was booked on the 34th minute for unsportsmanlike conduct but went ahead to excel with impressive midfield moves, blocks, tackles and passes.
The win has positioned Verona strategically to snatch an Europa League play-off promotion ticket.
