Swansea City’s hopes of playing in the English Premier League next season have been dashed after a 3-1 away defeat to Brentford in the second leg of the Championship playoffs.
Andre Ayew and his teammates were looking forward to stage a return to the English top-flight after recording a narrow win in the first leg.
Ayew scored the only goal to aid Swansea into a slender advantage ahead of the return encounter at the Griffin Park.
The result prevents the Swans from playing in the playoff finals and possibly securing the only available slot to the Premiership.
The Ghana International finished the season as Swansea City’s top scorer after bagging 15 goals for his side in the regular season.
He could be forced to leave following the Club’s failure to earn promotion.
Premier League returnees West Bromwich Albion are said to have shown interest in the Ghana captain.
