Arsenal could sell three players to fund Thomas Partey transfer

ARSENAL are ready to offload Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi or Lucas Torreira to fund their £45million deal for Thomas Partey.

Striker Lacazette has struggled for first-team spots under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and is ready to be ditched as the club claw back some of the £52m they splashed out on him.

Uruguayan midfielder Torreira, 24, has wanted to return to South America for some time now and he could go for a fraction of the £27m he cost from Sampdoria in 2018.

The only one of the three Arsenal are likely to make a profit on is French midfield bad-boy Guendouzi.

The £7m buy could join Manchester United for £20m.

At 29, Frenchman Lacazette will not be worth much more than £30m in the current climate.

Arteta wants midfield powerhouse Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The Ghanaian has a £45m release clause in his contract but Lacazette could go to Atletico in a swap for Partey.

Arsenal could potentially bring in £65-70m for those three which will go towards their expected £144m losses for this financial year due largely to the coronavirus pandemic, claim the Mail on Sunday.

Partey, 27, is seen by Gunners’ transfer gurus as the main man to shore up the area in front of the back four.

He has made over 180 appearances for Atletico in Spain and is wanted by a host of European clubs.

Arsenal chiefs also hope to make Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s loan switch to Roma permanent and drop his huge wages from their weekly bill.

The club remain hopeful of keeping 30-year-old striker and skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But it seems clear they will have to go higher than Mesut Ozil’s £350,000-a-week wages to get the Gabon forward to commit the rest of his career to the North Londoners.
